Indiana State Senator Mark Messmer won the Republican 8th District Congressional nomination Tuesday with 38 percent of the vote.

Messmer will face Democrat Erik Hurt in November who won his party’s nomination on Tuesday.

Incumbent Bruce Borders held off a strong challenge from Knox County Council president Kellie Streeter.

Borders defeated Streeter by 323 votes, with 38 percent of the vote.

In District 64, incumbent Matt Hostettler defeated Dale Mallory.

Both Borders and Hostettler are un-opposed at this time in the November general election.
