Knox County Sports Roundup for Friday

Senior Raden Benson struck out ten as the Vincennes Lincoln Baseball won a big SIAC contest at Evansville
Harrison 4-2.  Cooper Collins led the Alices with two hits.  Afterwards, Lincoln completed its suspended game
with Evansville Bosse, winning 13-1.  The Alices move to 9-4 on the season.
Vincennes Rivet rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat Oblong-Palestine-Hutsonville Illinois 10-5.  Brody Shots and
Hunter Bilskie each had three hits while Miles Gardner drove in three runs as the Patriots move to 4-8 on the spring.
Jacob Allen tossed a four-hitter and struck out nine as South Knox won at Northeast Dubois 6-2.  Allen also
added three hits and three RBI’s as the Spartans move to 7-7 on the season.
The Lincoln girls softball squandered a big lead but rallied to post a 9-8 win over Evansville Central in eight
innings.  Grace Archer and Miley Carie-Frederick each homered as the Lady Alices are now 7-7 on
the season.
The South Knox girls’ softball team got a three-hit shutout from Ally Sims in defeating Wsahington 4-0 at home.  A three-run second led the LadySpartans to the victory.
The Vincennes Lincoln tennis team trimmed Princeton 3-2.  Winning in singles play were Maddy Mitchell and Jade
York while the number two doubles team of Macey Fisher and Mallory Friend were also victorious.
The South Knox tennis team posted a 5-0 win over North Daviess. Recording wins in singles action were Abby
Cunningham, Alli Hayden and Grace Arnold.  Also winning were the number one doubles team of Caroline
Beard and Grace Carie and the number two combo of Reagan Harrington and Anna Provines.
The Lincoln Junior varsity baseball team beat Washington 12-2.  Colton York led the Alices with three hits as Lincoln
moves to 8-3 on the season.
The South Knox track team defeated Shoals and Rivet in a tri-meet last night.  Tucker Risley won in three events, two-event wins for Jaden McIntire and Landon Peterson.Jaxon Smith, Zack Woolard, and Sam Theriac also won one event each. The South Knox 400, 2600, and 3200 meter relay teams were also victorious.
In middle school sports…
The Clark softball team blanked Princeton 2-0 behind the 10 strikeouts of Jaclyn Miller.  The Clark B team won 5-2
as Lochlyn Betsch and Elli Thorne each drove in two runs for CMS.
The Clark middle school 8th grade boys track team lost to Jasper 95-30.  First place finishers were Izaiah Currie in the 100
meter dash and long jump, Lobens Lorial in the 200-meter dash and the 4-by-100 Relay team.  In the 7th and 6th grade meet,
Jasper won 89-23.  First place honors went to Roman Lowe in the 110 hurdles and Landon Hartly in the long jump.
The 8th grade girls lost to Jasper and failed to get a first-place finish.  the 6th and 7th  grade lost 90-11 with Brailyn Jewel placing
first in the 800-meter run for CMS.
The Vincennes University baseball team lost to Lincoln Trail college 6-5. VU falls to 13-34.  Speaking of VU, All American Destinee
Hooks announced she will be continuing her academic and basketball career at New Mexico.  Hooks was a second team All American.
Also leaving Vincennes University after 33 years is women’s basketball coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks.  Meeks announced he
will retire in June of this year.
