Vanderburgh County Sheriff To Switch Parties Today

Evansville’s Democratic sheriff is about to become a Republican. Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding yesterday said he will switch parties today. Wedding has been sheriff since 2014, and ran both times as a Democrat. He says he will explain his reasons for switching parties later today, though one reason may be plans to run for another office. Wedding is not the only southern Indiana sheriff to flip political parties, Posey County Sheriff Tom Latham made the switch back in June. Latham said he can’t be part of any party that supports defunding the police.
