Governor Mike Braun has rejected the brain scan request from death row inmate Jeffrey Weisheit.
He had asked to have those done before his scheduled execution before sunrise on November 5th.
Braun is still weighing a clemency decision for Weisheit, who was sentenced to death for killing two young children in a fire at his home near Evansville in 2010.
His defense attorney asked for the brain scans to determine if brain injuries preceded the deaths of eight-year-old Alyssa and five-year-old Caleb Lynch.
