A Warrick County woman has been sentenced to two years in prison after authorities found dozens of neglected animals, many dead, inside a Newburgh home.
Kimberly Burko was convicted of animal cruelty for her role in hoarding and neglecting animals with her daughter, including failing to provide proper food and care.
Deputies found about 20 dogs and several other animals, including birds, turtles, a cat and reptiles, at the home in January 2025.
Her daughter, Shayna Burko, pleaded guilty but mentally ill and was sentenced to 4 years in prison in June.
