The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office has launched Project Lifesaver, a program designed to help quickly locate individuals who may wander due to Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism, Down syndrome, brain injuries, or other cognitive conditions.
Participants wear a small transmitter that emits a unique radio signal.
If a participant goes missing, specially trained deputies can use the signal and specialized equipment to assist in a rapid search and safe recovery.
Sheriff’s officials say the program provides an added layer of protection for vulnerable residents and peace of mind for their families.
