Indiana is marking the 15th anniversary of Indiana Rail Safety Week this week.
Governor Mike Braun has proclaimed the week to highlight rail safety, as Indiana Operation Lifesaver, Indiana State Police and partners expand education and enforcement statewide.
Safety officials remind Hoosiers that every three hours in the U.S., a person or vehicle is hit by a train — and more than 60 percent of those collisions happen at crossings with lights and gates.
On Tuesday, Operation Clear Track will bring extra enforcement of crossing and trespass laws.
