A Lawrenceville teen is currently recovering in an Indianapolis hospital following a reported swimming accident over the weekend in northern Lawrence County, Illinois.
The accident involved 16-year-old Knox Pritchard of Lawrenceville who was swimming with a friend, 15-year-old Bryden Kade of Effingham.
Kade told Champaign, Illinois TV station WCIA that Pritchard had struck a sandbar in water.
He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes and then airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital.
Illinois State Police say an ambulance responding to the scene was struck by another vehicle in which the driver of the second vehicle, 37-year-old Bradley Blomgren, was killed.
Two other people were injured.
