The Lynn, Indiana Town Marshall was struck and killed Wednesday morning.
A Randolph County Sheriff’s deputy had earlier pulled over a van, suspected of being a stolen vehicle, driven by a 34-year-old Maci Atkinson of Winchester, but she sped off.
Police say Atkinson had multiple felony warrants against her.
State police say Atkinson drove through Lynn in Randolph County, and Town Marshal Brad Fisher tried to deploy a tire deflation device.
However, investigators say she struck Fisher, who died from his injuries.
Atkinson lost control of the van shortly after and crashed into a dump truck.
Medics took her to a hospital.
Upon her release, she was taken to the Randolph County Jail where she is being held on the felony warrants.
Additional criminal charges are expected pending the outcome of an Indiana State Police investigation.
Fisher was a 25-year law enforcement veteran and spent over three decades serving his community as a firefighter and EMT.
