State health officials have notified the Knox County Health Department that local mosquitoes have tested positive for West Nile Virus.
Officials say this is not unusual, but residents should remain aware of the risks.
To prevent infection, use repellents such as DEET and avoid being outdoors from dusk to dawn.
Residents should also remove or repair items that could hold standing water and breed mosquitoes.
No human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported in Knox County.
