Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum Expected to be Named as Replacement Candidate in Senate District 39

Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum is favored to become the replacement candidate in the Democrat race in State Senate District 39.

The replacement for withdrawn candidate Joseph Baughman will be named Thursday night in a district-wide Democrat caucus at the Washington City Council chambers.

Yochum says his major issue is new laws causing drastic cuts to municipal revenue statewide.

If he wins in November, he would have to vacate his last year as Vincennes Mayor.

The last Democrat State Senator for District 39 was Vincennes attorney Morrie Doll.

Doll left office in 1994 after being defeated in the election that year by Republican John Waterman of Shelburn.
