The voter registrations for over 60-percent of all immigrants in Indiana have been rejected or canceled by the state.
A law that took effect July 1st of 2025 requires county voter registration officials to get proof of citizenship from anyone using a temporary credential number as part of their voter registration application.
People who then receive a notification have 30-days to provide proof like a birth certificate, U.S. passport, or naturalization documentation before their registration is canceled or rejected.
