The Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office says a Spencer County man accused of driving while intoxicated when he was involved in a fatal crash last Wednesday made his initial court appearance Tuesday on eight charges.
The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office says 36-year-old Dana Strohmeyer of Jasper died when 37-year-old Nathan Simpson of Evanston veered left of center into the path of her vehicle on State Road 64 in Dubois County.
Two juveniles in Stohmeyer’s vehicle were injured.
Simpson is facing eight charges including Causing Death and Causing Serious Bodily Injury while Operating a Vehicle with a Controlled Substance.
The State also filed a notice of intent to seek habitual offender status, which carries an additional fixed term of years, if proven.
Simpson remains in the Dubois County Security Center on $100,000 bond.
