Our Community Foundation has awarded a $250 Teaching Innovator Grant to Washington Community Schools to support ‘Nex Playground.’
Christie Newkirk, a social worker at Washington Intermediate, was recognized as a Teaching Innovator.
Newkirk works with nearly 50 students weekly, focusing on boosting self-esteem, fostering friendships, and teaching healthy coping skills.
‘Nex Playground’ is an interactive video game system that connects to a smart board, promoting movement, collaboration, and problem-solving among students.
