Indiana Could Fine Businesses for Hiring Workers Living in the Country Without Legal Permission

Businesses in Indiana could face fines for hiring workers living in the country without legal permission under a new law set to take effect on July 1st.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita said they are cracking down on labor trafficking in the construction industry.

The law, known as Senate Enrolled Act 76, would penalize businesses that employ workers without legal permission and requires cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
