Greene County General Hospital has issued a breach notice to Anthem Insurance after repeated efforts to resolve ongoing payment and adjudication issues failed.
The hospital reports that Anthem has underpaid claims by processing many commercial claims as out-of-network, despite acknowledging these errors.
GCGH says this has resulted in financial harm to both the hospital and its patients, contributing to operational losses and threatening essential services.
CEO Brenda Reetz emphasized that unresolved underpayments impact patient bills and hospital stability and called on Anthem to fully address the scope of affected claims, correct payments, fix any improper patient charges, and resolve contractual issues.
