Local high school graduates are getting a major boost toward their college education.
The Jasper Strassenfest recently presented nearly $38,000 to the Vincennes University Jasper Foundation.
The funds come from this year’s Strassenfest Half Pot, which topped $150,000 for the second straight year.
The donation will fund full-tuition Scholastic Excellence Scholarships for seven to nine local students entering VU Jasper, covering tuition, a book stipend, and a laptop.
Since 2019, the program has been awarded over $500,000 to more than 150 area students.
As for the other half of the pot?
An anonymous Jasper resident took home over $75,000!
