Washington Man Receives 20-Year Sentence for Voluntary Manslaughter and 20-years for Criminal Recklessness

A Knox Superior Court One Judge sentenced a Washington man to 20-years in prison last week for Voluntary Manslaughter.

20-year-old Calvin Wittmer had initially been charged with Attempted Murder in the shooting death of James Mischler of Vincennes on July 24th, 2024.

As part of an agreement, approved by the family of the victim, Wittmer waived all rights to appeal or request sentence modification.

Meanwhile, Judge Gara Lee also sentenced Wittmer to an additional 20 years for Criminal Recklessness and a firearm sentencing enhancement for his actions two days earlier.
