Indiana State Police and INDOT are reminding drivers to watch for farm equipment on the roads this harvest season.
Officials say combines, tractors, grain carts and trucks hauling crops are wide — sometimes taking up most of the road — and often travel 25 miles per hour or slower.
Drivers are asked to be patient, avoid tailgating, and only pass when it’s safe and legal — and never assume a farmer pulling over is letting you by, they may be preparing to turn left.
Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott says farmers will pull over when they can, but it may take time to find a safe spot.
