Days after “Entourage” star Debi Mazar referred to the show’s set as “toxic,” creator Doug Ellin is pushing back.
Over the weekend, Mazar — who portrayed straight-talking publicist Shauna Roberts across the HBO series’ eight-season run — described the “testosterone-fueled environment” she encountered on set in an interview with The Sunday Times. Mazar also claimed that show executives “didn’t like that [she] got fat” after the birth of her second child.
On Tuesday, Ellin called Mazar’s claims “disgusting” in a social media post.

“My thoughts are this is disgusting. Never, ever did myself or anyone that matters care or discuss Debi Mazar’s body,” he wrote on X. “I would one million percent embrace any woman who got pregnant. The only bodies on the show I ever commented on were Adrian’s ( I wanted him more muscular) and @jerryferrara who I wanted fatter. I will forever feel bad about that because I didn’t realize the health implications at the time and now couldn’t be happier for Jerry’s transformation.”

In response to one user’s post that sarcastically dragged the show for being “toxic,” Ellin wrote, “Fu. It wasn’t. And you can ask 99 percent of the women who were on it, who are still good friends to this day.”
“There is no opinion. No one would have given a s— about her weight. She was the publicist. She was not cast for her looks she was cast for her talent. Period,” he wrote in response to another X user.
A representative for Mazar did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
The actress reflected on her experience in the recent interview with The Sunday Times, calling the first season a “joy-fest” before saying the atmosphere shifted.
“In the third season, the set was a testosterone-fueled environment,” Mazar told the outlet. “I’m tough, but it got toxic towards the end for me.”

Mazar, 62, said she returned to work after welcoming her second daughter and felt judged over her appearance.
“They didn’t like that I got fat, even though I got skinny again,” she said.
The “Goodfellas” star said the situation was complicated in part because she has never been one to keep quiet about how she feels. Still, Mazar stressed that she remained professional and was grateful for her time on the series.
“It was a lot of fun, until it wasn’t,” she said.
“Entourage,” which followed the highs and lows of a rising actor navigating Hollywood with his childhood friends, ran on HBO from 2004 to 2011. Mazar reprised her role as Shauna in the 2015 movie based on the series.
