The Monroe County Commissioners have voted to cancel the county’s contract with Flock Safety over privacy concerns.
Commissioner Jody Madeira says she was worried these automated license plate readers allow outside law enforcement and federal officials to track driver locations.
She added that it’s worth the cost to end the deal early and get the cameras removed.
Police still credit the cameras with solving crimes and responding to emergencies.
