Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita is asking the state Supreme Court to schedule the execution date of a death row inmate.
Jeffrey Weisheit was sentenced to death in 2012 for killing eight-year-old Alyssa Lynch and her five-year-old brother, Caleb Lynch, in a Vanderburgh County house fire in 2010.
The U.S. Supreme Court declined to intervene in his case last week.
Rokita says Weisheit has exhausted all avenues of review and “it is long past time to carry out the sentence.”
