U.S. Senator Todd Young is supporting two bills that would place new restrictions on stock trading by members of Congress.
The Indiana Republican is cosponsoring the Restore Trust in Congress Act to stop insider trading by members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children through banning the ownership and trading of individual stocks.
The bill was introduced by Senator Ashley Moody of Florida.
Young is also cosponsoring the Stop Insider Trading Act, which would prohibit members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from purchasing publicly traded stocks and mandates a seven-day public notice period before any stock sales can be executed.
That bill was introduced by Senator Pete Ricketts of Nebraska.
