A Farmersburg man wanted on robbery charges in Alabama for the past 26 years was arrested Monday night during a traffic stop by Farmersburg Police for a defective license plate light.
During a routine license check, the officer learned the driver, identified as Simon Nelson, may have been using an alias and was potentially wanted in Alabama for robbery under the name of Carter Davis.
Based on the information provided, and a comparison of identifying characteristics, the officer confirmed Nelson’s identity as Carter Davis.
Davis subsequently admitted to his true identity.
He is being held in the Sullivan County Jail pending extradition to Alabama.
Davis has resided in Farmersburg for several years and previously lived in the Brazil area.
