The Indiana Department of Transportation is rolling out Project Greenlight, a major safety initiative to protect highway workers in low-visibility conditions.
The program equips crews with Guardian Angel safety lights—wearable devices that flash bright green patterns visible from all directions.
According to a study by the Battelle Memorial Institute, these lights make workers 89% more visible when paired with a high-visibility vest.
INDOT is distributing roughly 375 units across the state, starting in the Northwest District, to help drivers distinguish workers from standard construction lighting during storms or night shifts.
