The Pike County Prosecutor’s Office says drug offense recidivism in the county is at a historic low, thanks mainly to the efforts of RISE Peer Recovery, which has been serving the county for about six months.
At this time, Pike County’s recidivism rate is 10.25%.
That means that only 10.25% of the criminal defendants who have received RISE services, and who have been released from jail for various reasons, have had a petition to revoke probation or a new criminal charge filed against them.
That’s a 69% decrease from the historical average of 33%.
In other words, over two-thirds of the recidivism the county may have otherwise seen over the past six months has been prevented.
