Democratic Governor nominee Jennifer McCormick is pushing back against the Indiana Department of Education’s proposals to change high school diploma requirements.
The former Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction says the changes amount to “dismantling” educational rigor in favor of filling positions at Hoosier companies facing worker shortages.
Indiana has not made significant changes to high school graduation requirements since the late 1980’s.
McCormick says the changes would send the state backwards.
