Officials in Odon are reminding residents of the reasons behind a recent water rate increase.
The new rate scale was introduced in May and approved by the Town Board in June.
Town officials say the rate increase is necessary to fund water system upgrades including a new water tower, water plant improvements, and improving pump stations to increase water pressure.
The total project will cost just over eight million dollars, with just over half of that paid for through a bond issue.
For the bonds to be sold, a rate increase was needed to ensure payment.
Prior to the latest increase, Odon water customers experienced rate hikes in 2021 and 2022.
