Jasper Police arrested a homeless man Thursday after receiving a report from a woman that a man was attempting to kick in the door of her apartment in the 13-hundred block of Dewey Street
Police say 31-year-old Matthew Lee Hess had struck and kicked the victim’s apartment door for nearly an hour, causing significant damage and nearly gaining entry.
Officers located Hess on the property of the Dewey Street Lofts a short time later, where he was taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, Hess was found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
He is charged with Attempted Residential Entry, Intimidation, Disorderly Conduct, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
