Governor Mike Braun is still taking a wait-and-see approach on whether the state will redraw U.S. House districts for the 2026 election.
Braun wants to hear from majority Republicans in the General Assembly and says his position has not changed.
Republican Senator Greg Walker of Columbus says he’s against drawing new maps, noting the current districts are only four years old and “have undergone considerable public scrutiny and review.”
He also says there is no justification for a special session to change them.
The White House is trying to convince states with Republican majorities to redistrict for the 2026 election to give the GOP more members of the U.S. House.
