Attorneys For Roy Lee Ward Trying To Pause His Execution

The attorneys for Roy Lee Ward are trying to get his October 10th execution paused.

The defense team put in a filing with the Indiana Supreme Court to “recall” his tentative execution date based on new evidence.

That evidence includes sworn affidavits of witnesses who watched Benjamin Ritchie’s execution in May along with postmortem toxicology reports from Ritchie and Joseph Corcoran.

Ward raped and killed 15-year-old Stacy Payne at her home in Spencer County in 2001.
