Dubois County Prosecutor Beth Schroeder has filed a request with Dubois Superior Court that a special prosecutor be appointed to investigate allegations of inappropriate spending of commissary funds by the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Schroeder says given that Sheriff Kleinhelter and she are both elected officials in Dubois County, out of an abundance of caution and to avoid the appearance of impropriety, she has filed a petition requesting that an independent prosecutor be appointed to investigate the allegations.
Schroeder made this request last Wednesday and is awaiting an appointment of a special prosecutor at this time.
