Another day… another scam.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says the public needs to be on the lookout for a scam in which the caller says he is an officer and attempts to solicit funds from the family of people incarcerated or recently released from the Knox County Jail.
The newest variation is that an offender was released improperly and needs to pay for ankle bracelet monitoring and tells the family member they must send money electronically to them, or the offender will be re-arrested.
The sheriff’s office reminds you that law enforcement or the courts will never call you to ask for money.
If someone calls you on the phone and asks that you send them money, please hang up and call the police.
