With the retirement of Knox County Sheriff Doug Vantlin at the end of 2026, Chief Deputy John Fuller has announced he will seek the Republican nomination for sheriff next year.
Fuller began his career at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in 2003 as a reserve deputy.
He accepted a jail officer position in 2007.
Then, in 2008, he was promoted to road deputy.
In 2016 he was promoted to Captain, and then to Major in 2019.
In 2021, Fuller was appointed Chief Deputy by Sheriff Doug Vantlin.
He has a Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Human Services, along with 20 plus years of experience as a Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy.
