Indiana’s major health insurance program for low and middle-income residents, the Healthy Indiana Plan or HIP 3.0, could see significant changes, but its future hinges on ongoing federal negotiations.
Mitch Roob, Secretary of Indiana’s Family and Social Services Administration, is pushing for reforms including work requirements, provider taxes, and wellness incentives.
However, proposed Congressional changes, such as capping state provider taxes, threaten to force Indiana to reduce eligibility for HIP.
This could potentially impact over 700,000 Hoosiers who currently depend on the program for health coverage.
