Pritzker Signs Bill Delaying Illinois’ Credit Card Fee Law

An Illinois state law that bans certain credit card fees is being delayed a year.

Governor J-B Pritzker has signed a bill that pushes back the effective date for the ban to July 1st, 2026.

The law blocks banks and credit card companies from charging retailers a small fee on taxes and tips.

Lawmakers pushed for the delay while banks challenge the law.
