Spring Mill State Park celebrates the reopening of its iconic gristmill on Saturday and Sunday in the park’s Pioneer Village as part of Indiana State Parks’ annual Welcome Weekend.
The gristmill recently opened after a year-long renovation project using wood salvaged from the damage caused by the 2023 tornado at McCormick’s Creek State Park.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. the gristmill will grind corn into cornmeal on the hour.
Cornmeal can be purchased in the Village Mercantile.
The daily gate fee of $7 for in-state vehicles or $9 for out-of-state vehicles will be charged on Saturday.
On Sunday, that fee is waived in recognition of the second day of Welcome Weekend and the opening day of Visit Indiana Week.
