A newly formed organization is working to give Indiana’s growing spray drone industry a stronger voice.
The Indiana Spray Drone Association was created to help ensure aerial application by drone grows safely, professionally, and responsibly across the state.
According to Nick Grott, President of the Indiana Spray Drone Association, “Indiana is probably one of the heaviest spray drone application states and there’s a lot of operators here. One of our biggest visions our goal is to really push safety and compliance.”
The association represents licensed aerial applicators and plans to provide education, training, and compliance resources while working with regulators and lawmakers on practical policies for the industry.
“We want to be able to be a voice for all of our Indiana applicators as well. So we did set up as a 501 C6. That way we can actually help with policies and procedures at a government level. And we can actually take our feedback and collectively talk to those that are helping make the policy changes and hopes that we make a good change for all of us and what we do,” added Grott.
He says a unified industry voice is critical as these policy discussions continue. They believe the organization can help operators navigate regulatory changes while advocating for technology that allows farmers to efficiently apply crop protection products, seed cover crops, and improve field management.
As drone use continues to expand in agriculture, the association hopes to help shape the future of aerial application in Indiana while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.
