Indiana State Police solve a 25-year-old bank robbery in Dubois County using DNA testing.
In 2000, a gunman robbed Holland National Bank in Ferdinand after tying up a mother and daughter at their home and stealing their car.
Blood from the suspect that dripped on the woman’s ankle while he was tying them up was preserved.
It was tested after the cold case was reopened in 2024, leading to the identification of three brothers.
Two brothers, living nearby, were deceased, and the third, living outside the county, was excluded as a suspect through DNA analysis.
The investigation concluded with the case being resolved based on forensic evidence, despite the suspects’ deaths.
