Accusations Disproven of Missing Firearms from Gibson Co. Sheriff’s Office Evidence Room

Gibson County Sheriff Bruce VanOven reports that claims of missing firearms from the department’s evidence locker are false.

Documentation shows the firearms were released to Jana Frederick in 2014.

VanOven says the allegations came from Frederick’s husband Chuck Frederick, a former deputy dismissed in 2025 for lying during an internal investigation.

VanOven notes recent social media attacks have harmed public trust and unfairly targeted the Sheriff’s Office staff.
