A good size crowd packed into the Blue Jeans Center in Monroe City Sunday for a public hearing on future solar projects in Knox County.
The main topic of discussion was a recommended 300-foot setback for any future solar panels installed in the future.
The setback was a recommended compromise by the county’s Area Plan Commission.
Those both for and against the 300-foot setback presented their opinions during Sunday’s hearing.
Other topics of discussion included tree screening for solar panels and eventual solar plant decommissioning.
The next chance for the Commissioners to consider amending the ordinance will be at their next meeting on Tuesday.
