Avian Influenza Detected in Multiple Indiana Counties

Highly pathogenic avian influenza has been confirmed in multiple Indiana counties, detected in a blue-winged teal in Greene County and black vultures in Jefferson and Franklin counties.

The public health risk is considered low, but the DNR urges people to report sick or dead wild birds at on.IN.gov/sickwildlife and to avoid direct contact.

Waterfowl meat should be cooked to 165 degrees Fahrenheit before consumption.
