Remains of Indianapolis Woman Identified 22-Years After Being Found in Owen Co.

The remains of Deanna Smith, a woman missing from Indianapolis for over 25 years, have been identified in Owen County 22 years after they were discovered.

Smith was reported missing in 1999, and her remains were found near South Franklin Road in Owen County four years later.

Indiana State Police, the IMPD Missing Persons Unit, Spencer Police, and other agencies collaborated to identify Smith’s remains.

Her death is considered a homicide and is currently under investigation.
