Indiana State Representative Jim Lucas says on social media that he has changed his position on mid-cycle redistricting from a hard no to a “rock solid HELL YES.”
The Seymour Republican earlier said redrawing the state’s Congressional maps now was “highly unusual and politically optically horrible,” saying elections need to be won “the old-fashioned way.”
Lucas changed his position within hours of the shooting death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah Wednesday.
He says, however, that wasn’t what changed his mind and says it was his back surgery at the Indiana Spine Hospital, saying if Democrats win control of the U.S. House, “places like this might go under.”
