Greene Co. Man Pleads Guilty to Murder of Woman and Her Son

A Greene County man charged with killing a woman and her son changed his plea to guilty Wednesday in Greene Circuit Court as part of a negotiated plea agreement.

36-year-old Joshua Penick’s guilty plea to two counts of Murder was accepted by the court which set sentencing for October 1st.

Prosecutors say Penick murdered 36-year-old Samantha Jerrell and her 14-year-old son Colton and buried their bodies at Bear Run Mine in Sullivan County.

Their bodies were found in October of 2024.
