First West Nile Virus Case Of 2025 Reported in Vanderburgh County Resident

The Indiana Department of Health says the state’s first case of West Nile Virus for the 2025 season has been reported in a Vanderburgh County resident.

Indiana reported 11 human WNV cases in 2024.

Steps to prevent mosquito-borne diseases include:
• Use insect repellent.
• Wear protective clothing.
• Install screens on windows and doors and keep them in good repair.
• And Empty containers that hold water. Even a pool of water as small as a bottle cap can breed mosquitoes.
