Indiana has two-and-a-half billion dollars in reserve according to three budget leaders.
State Comptroller Elise Nieshalla says people “can remain confident that our financial footing is stable, despite a year marked by economic fluctuations and a lower-than-expected forecast.”
Senator Fady Qaddoura, an Indianapolis Democrat, criticized the budget process, saying the state broke even in fiscal year 2025 and the closeout does not reflect the impact on those who rely on Medicaid, state-subsidized childcare, and food benefits.
