The Gibson County Health Department says a pool of mosquitoes in the area has tested positive for the West Nile virus.
The health department is asking residents to:
• Limit time outdoors between dusk and dawn, when mosquitos are the most active.
• Wear light colored clothing, pants, and long sleeves when possible.
• And use insect repellant containing DEET, Picaridin, or oil of lemon Eucalyptus
Products containing DEET should not be used on infants under two months old and those containing Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus should not be used on children under three-years of age.
And the public is asked to make sure their property is free of any standing water where mosquitoes can breed.
