The Indiana Supreme Court has tentatively scheduled the execution of Roy Lee Ward for October 10th.
Ward, a Spencer County man, was convicted of the 2001 rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl.
The tentative date comes with set deadlines for responses from both Ward’s legal team and the state.
Ward’s case has been marked by numerous legal challenges and reversals since his initial 2002 conviction.
A final execution date remains pending a definitive ruling from the court.
Should the execution proceed, Ward would be the third inmate put to death in Indiana since December 2024.
