The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a scam in which the callers identify themselves as Officer Stevens with the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
Potential victims are told they need to pay $2,400, or report to the jail for a warrant.
Currently all victims of this scam are registered on the Daviess County Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
The sheriff’s office says it will not call and request money or notify you of any warrants by phone.
If you get a call, do not give out any of your personal information.
